Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA)

The MCASA is the federally recognized state sexual assault coalition of 17 state rape crisis and recovery centers. MCASA’s mission is to help prevent sexual assault, advocate for accessible, compassionate care for survivors of sexual violence, and work to hold offenders accountable.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center (DVSAC) 

University of Maryland (UM) Capital Region Medical Center

The DVSAC at the UM Capital Region Medical Center in Prince George's County provides victim services in a private and confidential medical setting. Its team of trained hotline counselors provide free 24/7 crisis counseling services.  

Individuals who experience sexual assault can access a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) within 72 hours of an assault. Each Maryland county has a hospital that provides SAFE exams. A SAFE exam is available at the DVSAC. To find a SAFE provider in other counties, call 1 (800) 656-4653. SAFE exams and attention to medical needs are available without having to reveal a person’s identity to the police.

Sexual Assault Legal Institute (SALI)

Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) 

The MCASA’s Sexual Assault Legal Institute (SALI) provides comprehensive legal services to survivors of sexual violence statewide, as well as training and technical assistance for professionals working with survivors.

The Optum website provides a list of crisis resources (eg: crisis hotline phone number) for Marylanders by county, including contact information for local mobile crisis teams.

National Confidential Resources

Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network (RAINN)

The RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization that created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and the DoD Safe Helpline. It also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)

The NSVRC provides research and tools to advocates working on the frontlines to end sexual harassment, assault, and abuse with the understanding that ending sexual violence also means ending racism, sexism, and all forms of oppression.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project works towards ending suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people. Crisis counselors are trained at the Trevor Project to answer calls, chats, or texts from LGBTQ+ young people who reach out on our free, confidential and secure 24/7 service when they are struggling with issues such as coming out, LGBTQ+ identity, depression, and suicide.
