University of Maryland Police Department (UMPD)
The University of Maryland Police Department is a professional law enforcement organization that employs over 100 individuals. These individuals provide a complete array of law enforcement and related services to the UMD community.
UMPD provides police service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These services include: Emergency response to crimes in progress and to life threatening incidents.

24-Hour Walking Safety Escort Service
The escorts are conducted by the Student Police Auxiliary foot patrol program in which Student Police Aides (SPAs) patrol the campus on foot and on bicycle.
If you would like an escort, please call the UMPD to request one at the phone: 301-405-3555 (off campus) / 53555 (on campus).
You may also use a blue light emergency PERT phone to call for an escort.
Reporting Options
File a University Report
To file a report of sexual misconduct or harassment online, please visit the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct's (OCRSM) website at https://ocrsm.umd.edu/file-report. You may also file a report through the following methods:
