The members of the below resources are known as “Responsible University of Employees” (RUEs) or mandated reporters. RUEs are required to promptly notify the Title IX Coordinator when they become aware of any type of sexual misconduct. Hence, the below resources provide valuable support and/or access to options, while also holding the responsibility of reporting up to the Title IX Coordinator.

Information is reported UP, not OUT.

To learn more about RUEs, please visit the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct (OCRSM) website at ocrsm.umd.edu/RUEs

Ombuds Services

An "Ombuds" is a person who can be consulted by members of the university community who want to get information about University policies relating to their activities or who encounter problems that they cannot resolve through ordinary channels.

The University of Maryland provides Ombuds services for faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Each Ombuds office operates in a different setting and with different reporting responsibilities. However, all of them share a common purpose and operate on the same basic Ombuds principles.
